It’s Called MERS, It’s Been Around A While and It’s Massive.
Here’s the scenario.
You’ve paid your mortgage payments on time and you get notification that some bank you’ve never heard of is coming to foreclose on your House and kick you to the curb.
My current occupation is where I work with banks checking out properties (houses, condos, town houses) that are distressed (nice way of saying delinquint). My responsibility is to determine if the property is occupied or not.
Sometimes I’m required to make contact with these people and that is a crap-shoot. If the property is occupied by the mortgagor easily 75% of them are hostile and of those, 40% are violently so. Yes, I carry. My son Stephen works with me by covering the Town of Gilbert.
The day before yesterday I was in a conference call with one of our clients, the contracting agency the client uses to get me my work orders and several other contractors like myself. Most of us work around real estate investors and those guys have their ears to the wires and in the grapevines. We usually learn of trends in the real estate industry long before the general public does.
The client was weirded out about something and was uncharacteristically reserved and would not answer our questions directly. As the call was ending I asked her if she could hang on a minute because I had a question for her that I would prefer her to answer it for me. She agreed and we waited for everyone else to hang up.
When the other’s were gone I asked, “How long will it take before this hits?”
“Before what hits?” she asked.
“What ever it is that’s got you so twisted up” I said.
She was quiet for a long moment then sighed and said, “It’s already here.” She began picking her words carefully, “Sorry, but this will sink what little is left of our economy. If you get a chance research MERS. From what I hear this is in the quadrillions of Dollars” and with that she hung up.
Yesterday I’m sitting at the kitchen table doing some paperwork and I find that Stephen is listening to Alex Jones. Alex was interviewing a man named Randy Kelton and the subject they were discussing was MERS. I was shocked.
Here is the interview. It’s a bit long but – boy – it is a must listen to if you have a mortgage on your home, land, farm, or business. The Interview does it drive the point home.
I’m doing some additional followup to see what else I can find. When I do I will post it.
